On February 3, 2018 at approximately 1:57 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a parking lot located in the 3900 block of East Owens Avenue to investigate a report that a man had been shot. Responding officers located an unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicates the victim and suspect had a physical altercation inside of a nearby market. The suspect went outside to the parking lot and got into a black Dodge Charger. The victim followed and went up to the driver side window and a struggle ensued over a handgun. At some point, the victim was shot and fell to the ground. The suspect stayed in the vehicle and drove off.
The suspect was described as a black male adult who stood approximately 5 9’ tall, with a medium build and braided hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a doo rag, dark jacket, dark jeans and a gold necklace.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. ****UPDATE- VIDEO AVAILABLE****
As of this updated release, detectives have obtained video surveillance footage of two people of interest.
